Pumpkin Patch Inside

The Pumpkin Patch Thrift Store

For years, the Gospel Mission operated a clothing give-a-way program. It benefited the needy in the community and provided clothes for clients of the Mission program.

In 2008, the Gospel Mission Board appointed an advisory committee to study the feasibility and development of a business plan to establish and operate a Mission Thrift Store.  The purpose was to increase funding for capital improvements and other on-going expenses for the daily operation of the Mission. The study was completed and a recommendation was made and accepted to move forward with the plan and The Pumpkin Patch Thrift Store was born.

Moving from a small 800 square foot building, which was destroyed by fire in February of 2011, to our current 3,000 square foot store located on the corner of 9th Street and Klamath Avenue, has not only allowed for the expansion of floor space, storage and processing space, but the amount and types of merchandise available as well.

The Pumpkin Patch carries a wide variety of quality merchandise; from designer clothing, shoes and bags, antiques, jewelry, baby clothes, to household goods and furniture. The Pumpkin Patch Thrift Store has become very successful in raising revenue for the Mission, while still providing clothing and other goods to clients and the needy in the community.

The Pumpkin Patch has become a viable center for client job training and community service in the Basin.

If you are interested in becoming involved, here’s how you can help:

  1. Bring your donations of clean and gently used clothing or other goods to the Mission front entrance or during store hours to the rear of the store in the alley. Someone will be right with you to help unload your donation and provide a donation tax receipt.
  2. Volunteer to work at the Pumpkin Patch or at the Mission. Check with Chaplain Richard Rowlett to fill out a volunteer application.
  3. Encourage others to donate, volunteer, and especially shop at the Pumpkin Patch Thrift Store. You’ll be amazed at the variety and quality of items you can find there, and at great prices.
